Your Questions Answered

What qualifications do I need to apply?

We look for candidates with qualification in the following fields: construction, bricklaying, carpentry/ joinery, mechanical or civil. The ideal candidate possesses technical aptitude, willingness to learn, and passion for hands-on work. While technical or vocational education is helpful, it's not always required. What matters most is your attitude, work ethics, and commitment to excellence. An internship or apprenticeship in the above fields is a plus, but not mandatory. We'll teach you the specific skills you need.

Do I need prior experience in refractories?

No! The Supervisor Academy is designed to train people from the ground up. Many of our most successful supervisors had never heard of refractories before joining. What you need is the willingness to learn and the determination to master a craft.

How long is the training program?

The formal training program runs approximately 18-24 months, but learning never really stops. You'll continue to develop expertise throughout your career. The first few months focus on fundamentals, followed by increasing responsibility and specialization.

Will I have to relocate?

The nature of the work involves travel to customer sites across EMEA. You'll work on projects in various locations, often for weeks at a time. However, you'll have a home base and regular time off. Many supervisors love the travel aspect—it's a chance to see the world while building your career. We provide per diem compensation when you're working away from home.

What does the career path look like?

You'll start as a trainee supervisor, progress to independent supervisor, then to senior supervisor positions. From there, opportunities include becoming a trainer/mentor, technical specialist, or moving into operations management. Many of our senior leaders started as trainee supervisors.

What's the work-life balance like?

This is demanding work with periods of intensive activity, especially during major projects. However, we also ensure adequate time off between assignments. Most supervisors work on a rotation that allows for regular breaks. The exact schedule varies based on project needs and your seniority level.

What about safety?

Safety is our absolute top priority. You'll receive comprehensive safety training covering all aspects of industrial work. We maintain strict safety protocols, provide all necessary protective equipment, and foster a culture where everyone looks out for each other. Your wellbeing is paramount.

How is this different from other Calderys training programs?

The Supervisor Academy is specifically focused on developing installation and supervision expertise. While Calderys Academy provides broader training across various roles and functions, the Supervisor Academy is a specialized, intensive program designed to create world-class refractory installation supervisors. It's a deep-dive into a specific, critical craft.

What's the compensation like?

We offer competitive salaries for skilled supervisors, with compensation increasing as you gain experience and certification. When working abroad, you'll receive per diem allowances that significantly boost your income. We also provide comprehensive benefits. Specific salary details will be discussed during the interview process.

Can I apply if I'm not from the EMEA region?

Currently, the Supervisor Academy is focused on recruiting within EMEA markets where we have the most active operations. However, we encourage you to apply and we'll consider all qualified candidates.

What happens after I complete the training?

Upon successful completion, you'll be a certified Calderys supervisor, ready to lead installation projects independently. You'll have a secure position with our company, ongoing project assignments, and a clear path for continued advancement. You'll also be part of our global supervisor network for life.

When will the training start?

If you have been selected to enter the Supervisors Academy Program, you’ll be notified of the date in advance. The next session will take place in June 2026.

Your Future Starts Now

The refractory industry needs skilled supervisors. We're investing in training the next generation of experts. This could be your opportunity to build a stable, rewarding career in an essential industry—with training, mentorship, and support every step of the way.
