Calderys’ Pingtung plant in Taiwan has completed the installation of a rooftop-mounted solar panel system, enabling it to contribute to delivering green electricity in the country. The system covers a total area of 11,557m2, with an annual power generation expected to reach 2.25 million kWh.

On top of this, in a very hot climate, the solar panels have reduced the indoor temperature of the plant by around three to five degrees Celsius, reducing the need for air-conditioners.

Working with experts in green energy to protect our environment

Due to its location in the south of Taiwan, the plant is exposed to lots of sunlight. And since its roof was also in need of repair, it was a good opportunity to install the solar panels.

Albert Chang, General Manager of Calderys Taiwan, says: “We had to revamp the roof of the plant, so it has been made by the supplier which operates the solar panels through the deal. It was a win-win situation.”

Albert comments: “Collaborating with external experts was important to us as we wanted to complete the project to the highest standard.” The installation was performed within four months.  “I’m happy we were able to come together successfully under the goal of providing green electricity and having a positive impact on the environment,” says Albert. “The teams worked very closely and very hard during the entire process, and we’re all so proud of this achievement.”
