Pusher Furnace
The pusher furnace uses a pusher mechanism to move the steel through the furnace. The steel is loaded onto a large tray that is pushed through the furnace by a hydraulic or mechanical system. The main challenges faced by these furnaces are hot erosion and mechanical destruction. Therefore, Calderys has developed specific refractory solutions for these furnaces. The operating temperature in a pusher furnace is generally up to 1,250°C (for special steel grades like high silicon steel please contact us directly). The stocks (slabs, billets or blooms) move down the length of the furnace. These furnaces are quite popular due to the low installation and maintenance costs compared to other moving furnaces. Main damages are occurring on the refractory hearth by hot erosion and skids protections (hot erosion and mechanical destruction). Calderys has a full range of solutions: cast-in situ, plastic to cast/gun/ram, Quick Drying and Sol-Gel, Spraycast or Precast.
We conduct an extensive audit of your process to design a customised solution from the insulating castables, precast shapes and large range of ceramic anchors in our monolithics portfolio.
