Casthouse Floor
The casthouse directs the molten iron from the blast furnace to the torpedo ladles. Molten iron and slag exit the blast furnace through the taphole into the trough. Casthouse floors must maintain a high campaign life as well as remain reliable. Our castables for iron throughs are designed:
To ensure a total reliability
- High-performance safety lining with high mechanical properties
- Specific design of the permanent lining constructed from prefabricated shapes
- Made with a special non-carbonated bonded system
- Brought an enhanced drying process
To achieve long campaigns
- Thanks to a working lining based on high-alumina-ultra-low-cement castables containing carbon & SIC either cast or prefabricated
- Intermediate repairs with spraycast or gunning mix material to extend lifetime of the trough lining. Can be carried out in cold, hot or red-hot conditions
To reduce maintenance downtime
- Dry-vibrating mixes (DVM) : do not require any drying
- Prefabricated shapes (Precast) for quick installation. Cast under optimal conditions and pre-dried for a maximum lifetime
- SOL GEL technology : to save time with a fast-dry product
