Calderys in Saudi Arabia: answering the refractory demands of the Middle East
Key features
- 16,300 square meter production plant
- Located in Jubail, Saudi Arabia
- Includes one state-of-the-art monolithics line for dense and lightweight refractory castables and a line for precast shapes and lances.
- Manufacturing industry-leading refractory products under HWI and Calderys’ trademarks.
- Answering the evolving needs of Saudi Arabia and the wider region.
- Serving iron & steel, aluminum, cement, and petrochemicals sectors.
Why Jubail?
This project is the largest recent investment in Calderys’ EMEA region. It strengthens the Group’s ability to supply high-performance refractory solutions directly to Gulf industrial hubs.
Jubail gathers a pool of industrial companies that rely heavily on refractory products.
By locating the new plant in Jubail, Calderys is positioned:
- At the center of Saudi Arabia’s industrial corridor
- Close to major consumers of refractories
- Near strategic logistics channels, including ports and supply-chain infrastructure
This geographical advantage translates into faster deliveries, more stable supply, and optimized lead times for customers across Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the UAE.
Supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030
Saudi Arabia’s industrial development is accelerating under Vision 2030, with strong commitments to diversification and downstream manufacturing. The new Calderys plant aligns with this national strategy by enhancing local manufacturing capabilities and strengthening supply-chain resilience for high-temperature process industries.
By producing refractories directly in the Kingdom, Calderys contributes to increasing the share of locally produced industrial materials while improving service continuity for customers throughout the Gulf.
Refractory demand rising across the Middle East
The new plant also responds to strong and sustained growth in refractory consumption in the region.
- According to Grand View Research’s Middle East Refractories Market Size, Share & Trends Report (2025 - 2033), the Middle East refractories market is projected to grow at a CAGR of approximately 5.9% between 2024 and 2033 and the iron and steel sector accounts for nearly 64% of regional refractory usage.
A plant built for regional industrial requirements
The Jubail facility will include two production lines designed to meet the needs of Middle Eastern customers:
- Monolithic refractories: dense castables, insulating castables, and specialty mixes.
- Precast shapes and lances, manufactured with consistent quality and tailored dimensions.
The plant will produce materials for both Calderys and HWI product portfolios, ensuring customers across the region have access to a wide range of high-performance solutions.
With production scheduled to begin in April 2026, the plant will also be supported by expanded regional warehousing, enhanced logistic capabilities, and strengthened technical service teams for on-site support.
Calderys will leverage its strong commercial presence in the Middle East and continue to meet customers at key industrial events in 2025, 2026 and beyond:
